Our sources and editorial method

How Sentinelle Auto guides handle sources, calculations, publication dates and the limits of available data.

Who publishes these guides?

Groupe Sentinelle publishes the Sentinelle Auto guides and is responsible for their editorial content. Jonathan Carmouze created the product, drawing on his driving experience in Europe and Canada. Personal experience does not replace verification of technical information or tariffs. Our own product pages are not independent product reviews.

Artificial intelligence may assist drafting and technical checks. Generated text is not presented as a customer testimonial or a road test. A person is named as an author or reviewer only when that contribution is established.

How we use sources

We favour primary sources: public authorities, operators, network managers, manufacturers and official documentation. Guides link important claims to the relevant evidence. Fuel sources vary by country; their coverage, units and update practices cannot be assumed to be identical.

Each reported price has its own date. Downloading a file does not make every price in it new. Missing data does not prove a station is closed or out of fuel. Check the price displayed at the station before buying. A listed charging location does not guarantee a compatible, available or working connector.

How to read our calculations

Examples state their assumptions, units and formulas. Teaching examples are identified as hypothetical. A detour calculation uses additional driving, including the return to the route where needed, the intended purchase and an explicit consumption assumption. Time, wear and tolls are included only when stated.

For charging, kW measures power and kWh measures energy. We distinguish energy charges from session, time and parking fees. Discounts apply only under the stated programme conditions. Canadian dollars and US dollars, US gallons and imperial gallons are not interchangeable.

Dates, illustrations and corrections

Publication dates refer to the first publication; modification dates refer to a content change. A changed date alone is not a fresh verification of every price. Original, licensed and generated images are labelled according to their provenance. An illustration is not evidence of a customer’s savings.

A guide explains a decision; a local search shows available data at consultation. Neither guarantees savings, a price on arrival or search rankings. To report an error, send the page URL, the relevant passage, the date and a verifiable source to our contact address.
